38 Weeks: Trusting God with the What Ifs

Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow book reviewLO being breech has filled my life with more what ifs, than ever… and for some reason I have a feeling that with motherhood this is only the beginning of a life filled with what ifs; if I allow it…

What IF…

  • My water breaks…

    Go straight to the hospital

  • My water doesn’t break…

Stay home and call me, you will labor at home till 4cm, then we will head to the hospital.

  • His foot presents first …

    You’ll have a C-Section

  • His cord slips out first…

It becomes an emergency and you will have C-Section under general anesthesia.

  • His tush presents first…

You will have a vaginal breech birth.

  • He’s head down…

Stay home for your home birth

With all of these variables I have been I am… trying my hardest to turn to God fully and TRUST. DH has been praying for us all non-stop and at times something in me almost wants to push him away. I’ve had days when I feel so discouraged. But I have to remain focused on God and His promises, not on my circumstances.

While pondering through our bookshelves I came across a book I read a while back calledCalm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow book review
Calm My Anxious Heart: A Woman’s Guide to Finding Contentment. DH and I have been reading it together each evening. Last night we read the Chapter titled, “Trusting God with the What If’s”.

Although I don’t agree with everything in this book (like it’s advice to expect the worst)… it has great points to inspire faith. And this was just what I needed. I was reminded of three very important things.

  1. Let go and TRUST in Him
  2. Keep my eyes focused on Him, Not my circumstances
  3. God does NOT need my help!

I knew that having a child would bring me closer to God…I just didn’t know how soon my growth would begin. My faith and trust are growing stronger than ever.  Now we are moving forward in full faith, trusting God.  We’ve decided to setup our birthing pool.  It feels good to put action behind our faith.

John 14:12

12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. 13 You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!
