I recently started my very own business with Beautycounter as a consultant. I am motivated, & invigorated to be a part of such a movement although a bit nervous — it’s an obvious choice for me.

Who doesn’t want the best for their families especially their children who are completely reliant on us for all their needs.

We buy organic foods, we Berkey filter our water, we limit sugar and food colors we use safer cleaning products, deodorants, body wash, and toothpaste. I even make our lotion (when I have the time), we drink from stainless steel bottles and have been decreasing our use of plastic in general. Of course we recycle. In the grand scheme of things my list is extremely short. There’s so much more we could be doing but — One. Step. At. A. Time. Otherwise I’d just give up and crawl in to a hole!

I say choose your battle… THEN go all out! Once you’ve won that battle move to the next!

My Current Battle. Safer Beauty Products!Non toxic makeup and skin care

Most recently I have been focused what goes ON our bodies. I took inventory of products I use most often and looked them up on the EWG’s Healthy Living App to see if they could be a cause for concern. Products like eyeliner, mascara, lip gloss, sunscreen, foundation, concealer, body wash etc.

I was surprised by the results… but not really surprised because nothing surprises me anymore. Many of the products I had been applying to my body EACH AND EVERYDAY, sometimes MULTIPLE times a day (i.e lipgloss) were toxic, known carcinogens and/or endocrine disruptions. From that point on I decided this was my battle and I would do better.

When you know better you can choose to do better.

How I Learned About Beautycounter

A semi crunchy friend of mine mentioned she was using Beautycounter and that their products actually worked just as well as her old stuff, if not better. I did my own research and found my wonderful mentor Melanie. I was sold, and invigorated and began using these amazing products.

These are my current favs.

Beautycounter’s eyeliner, lengthening mascara, lip gloss in BUFF, Overnight resurfacing peel, & Charcoal mist!

Why Beautycounter, Why Not Other “Safer” Brands?

There are many cosmetic brands out there that have natural, non-toxic and organic on their labels. Take a trip to Whole Foods and you will immediately be over whelmed. But what do these claims really mean? You will be surprised to find out that in the United States the cosmetics industry is virtually unregulated. “Its’ is perfectly legal for companies to use harmful ingredients in the products we use on our skin every single day.”  Natural can mean almost anything.

TRANSPARENCY. Beautycounter shares the ingredients they use to formulate their products, including all known components of fragrances! They don’t simply tell us their products are safer… they tell us what they mean by SAFER. “…Safer means that we are doing our best to choose ingredients with little or no risk to health.”

I’m a fighter. I get riled up by injustice especially within the health and wellness related fields. Before becoming a mom I was a Nurse and Licensed Massage Therapist. Advocacy is a passion of mine (check out my work around Postpartum Depression and Anxiety) I’m a self-professed documentary junky. I love the stuff! I LOVE to be informed… But then what. Yes, I can do better for my own family but what about everyone else out there. That’s where Beautycounter is different.

ADVOCACY Beautycounter advocates for more health-protective laws!

“The United States has not passed a major federal law to regulate the safety of ingredients used in personal care products since 1938.
Over the past two decades, the European Union has banned close to 1,400 chemicals in the product formulas of personal care products and restricted the levels of over 250 more in such products. The United States has only partially banned 30 to date.
WE DESERVE BETTER,  AND WE’RE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
At Beautycounter, we’re committed to a health and safety standard that goes well beyond what’s required by U.S. law: We’ve prohibited the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals through “The Never List™” — all while ensuring our products perform and that they’re as indulgent as any other luxe shampoo, lipstick, or oil in the market.
IT’S NOT EASY WORK,  BUT IT’S WELL WORTH IT.”

PERFORMANCE Their products are safer BUT they actually work!

The products perform! Y’all We have all tried the “natural” brand that doesn’t get the job done. I don’t have to worry about that with Beautycounter. They deliver on their claims. My skin feels baby soft and looks radiate, the eyeliner doesn’t smudge the lip gloss feels wonderful, I could go on!

Lastly.

The OPPORTUNITY to have my own business!

I have taken full advantage of the opportunity to enjoy these safe products at a discount, share my passion for health and wellness with my friends family and those God will bring into my life. I can fight for greater control within the cosmetics industry all while contributing to my family’s income. The best part. I don’t feel like a fraud or a sneaky deceptive sales woman doing it. I love these products and trust this company and I stand with them in their mission to get safer products into the hands of everyone!

Beautycounter is the obvious choice for me. I am proud to work with a company I can truly stand behind. If you would like to join my team I’d love to share more information with you about this opportunity to join the fight while looking and feeling Gorgeous!
